Scheduled to be launched in August 2016, the Aprilia SR 150 is going to be priced at Rs 65,000 in the Indian Market
First unveiled at the Auto Expo in February this year, the Aprilia SR150 is scheduled to be launched next month i.e. August 2016. However, the company has announced the introductory price of the sporty scooter, which is just Rs 65,000 (ex-showroom). Looking at the features and specifications of the Italian scooter, it is surely a value for money deal.
“After the success of the Ape and the positioning of the Vespa in the premium segment of the Indian market, we are further strengthening our offering in the subcontinent with the entry of Aprilia’s SR 150 scooter,” said Piaggio. Targeting young Indian riders, the SR 150 combines the feel of a sports bike with the ease of a scooter, making it a crossover vehicle from a world-class brand. Designed and engineered in Italy, the scooter will be manufactured at Piaggio’s India plant in Baramati, Maharashtra, which will help keep the price competitive.
Adding to this, Stefano Pelle, managing director, and CEO, Piaggio Vehicles Private Limited (PVPL), said, “We have received a favorable response to all our launches in the country and with the launch of the Aprilia SR 150, we aim to increase our footprint across the geo. The design aesthetics of the SR 150 reflect the sporty character of the Aprilia brand with a lightweight engine which creates a new category in India’s the scooter segment”.
Characterizing the Aprilia SR 150 are sporty features like large 14″ alloy wheels with five spokes, much similar to the Aprilia racing bikes, performance tyres, disc brakes, and a sleek design. Powering the scooter is a single cylinder 150cc, 4-stroke engine, the same unit that does duty on the 150cc Vespa models. The motor makes 12PS of power and delivers 11.5Nm of peak torque, which is sufficient to provide a punchy performance to this lightweight machine.
Bookings for the Aprilia SR 150 will commence shortly and it will be available through the Piaggio Group’s distributor network across the country.
